ALEXANDRA OLIVER
Fine Artist
Alexandra Oliver’s artwork is focused upon an exploration of the serene beauty of the Suffolk countryside that surrounds her. Specialising in oil paintings on canvas, as well as playful drawings in pastel and watercolour, she captures the peaceful essence of nature with a whimsical touch. Each painting is infused with the positive energy she draws from the natural world, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in its beauty and tranquillity.
Her traditional approach to painting has evolved from a background following practical art training in Florence and art history at Sotheby’s Institute of Art where she completed her MA in Fine and Decorative Art & Design. Drawing inspiration from a variety of sources, including the works of local artists such as Constable and Gainsborough, Turner, the ethereal qualities of the Rococo aesthetics, and the allure of Claudian landscapes, her art blends these elements to infuse her work with a representational flourish.
Alongside her most recent MA graduation from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 2024, she received her BA in Fine Art and History of Art at the University of Leeds in 2019. Alex has exhibited all over the UK, including Leeds, London, Cambridge and overseas in Canada. Her work has been complimented by winning the Berkofsky Award in 2019 and being shortlisted for the FUAM Graduate Art Prize in the same year.
